University of Colorado’s Prentup Field was the site for the second matchups in the annual Colorado Cup. None of the three games yesterday disappointed, with the host team coming out leaders in the standings through two games. CU downed Colorado State 2-1 on goals from Taylor Kornieck and Danica Evans. The win was the third time in the last five years the Buffs began the season 2-0-0 (read more here).

Northern Colorado and Air Force drew at 2 goals apiece. Mariel Gutierrez found the net for her third time this season and assisted on the Aleah Strength goal in the first half for the Bears. Air Force drew tallies from Bree Bezdek and Brooke Rittmann (read more here). Northern Colorado is 1-0-1 through the first two games, while Air Force is 0-1-1.

Colorado College tallied their first victory of the season with the first multi-goal performance by a Tiger this season. Swedish sophomore Clara Richter scored twice in the first half, with Aleesa Muir netting the other goal en route to a 3-0 halftime advantage that ended up also being the final tally (read more here). Colorado College is 1-1-0 while Denver is 0-2-0 to start the Colorado Cup and the 2016 season.
