The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference released their preseason coaches poll and All-RMAC teams yesterday. Not surprisingly, the tradition of CU-Colorado Springs carried them to the men’s preseason nod, while Metro State garnered the women’s nod. Neither were unanimous, however. Colorado School of Mines and Colorado Christian each took a first place vote from UCCS in the men’s poll, while Colorado Mesa took two votes from Metro in the women’s poll (read more here).

Metro State senior Allie Johnson and UCCS redshirt-junior Colin Prater were named the RMAC Women’s and Men’s Preseason Golfers of the year. Both Johnson and Prater qualified from the NCAA Division 2 National Tournament last season, with Prater earning All-American honors based on his finish. All ten Preseason All-RMAC team members were from Colorado-based schools (read more here).

Colorado School of Mines junior midfielder Nikolaus Grotz was named HERO Sports First Team All-American yesterday. The German led the RMAC with 37 points last season including a 5th-best assist tally in the nation with 15. He was a NSCAA Third-Team All-American last season and was named to the Preseason All-RMAC squad last week (read more here).

In volleyball action on the NJCAA level last night, Northeastern Junior College opened their season by defeating North Platte 3-1 (26-24, 24-26, 25-17, 25-22). Sophomore Emily Luke led the Plainswomen with 17 kills.
