2017 Volleyball Begins Tomorrow

College volleyball in the state of Colorado is always strong. 2017 is looking to be no different and we’ll get our first chance to see several of the teams on the court this weekend. Both Colorado State and Northern Colorado open the weekend by hosting matches at home, followed by a head-to-head showdown on Tuesday. Colorado State will see Duke on Friday at 6pm followed by Central Florida on Saturday at 8pm (See the preview courtesy of Colorado State here). Northern Colorado will face them in opposite order, with Central Florida on Friday and Duke on Saturday. Both matches will be at 7pm in Greeley (See the preview courtesy of Northern Colorado here).

Colorado Buffaloes Volleyball heads to Norman, Oklahoma for a tournament hosted by the former Big 12 rival Oklahoma Sooners. Their season opener is tomorrow at 3:30pm against Northwestern State before facing two matches on Saturday, at 9am against Seton Hall and then against the host Sooners at 6pm (See the preview courtesy of Colorado here).

The Denver Pioneers begin the season in Charleston, South Carolina in a tournament hosted by the College of Charleston. Like Colorado, they’ll face three matches over the weekend beginning with Tennessee State tomorrow at 2:30pm. Saturday will pit them against USC Upstate at 8:30am and the hosts at 5pm (See the preview of the season courtesy of Denver here).

Wrapping up the Division 1 Volleyball action this weekend will be Air Force as they head to Bozeman, Montana. The tournament is hosted by Montana State, whom the Falcons see right out of the gate at 12pm tomorrow. They’ll also face Gonzaga at 5pm and wrap up the tournament at 10:30am on Saturday against Illinois (See the season preview courtesy of Air Force here).

The junior college ranks of Colorado’s volleyball scene also begin play this weekend. Northeastern is on the road for 4 matches in Salt Lake CC’s tournament while Otero, Lamar and Trinidad State will all be playing in the tournament hosted by Lamar, each getting 4 matches over the weekend.
